Kevin Lewko

Jan. 24, 1955 - July 16, 2005

MONTROSE - Kevin John Lewko, age 50, of Montrose, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 16, 2005, at his home after a short illness.

Kevin was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on Jan. 24, 1955, the son of John and Anita (Manore) Lewko. Kevin grew up in St. Louis Park and Coon Rapids, Minn., where he graduated from Coon Rapids Senior High School in 1973.

He came to Colorado in 1988 to attend a Discipleship Training School with Youth With a Mission at Cimarron (YWAM). Kevin then stayed and worked on the staff of YWAM Cimarron until 1994, serving in many capacities.

It was at Cimarron that Kevin met Tamara Price, from Olathe. They were married at El Rancho Cimarron on Sept. 10, 1989.

Kevin was an electrician as well as a craftsman in many trades and he used these gifts to serve many people. Kevin tirelessly gave of himself, giving up his time to help someone in need with vehicle repairs, fixing something broken, lawn work or driving for Sharing Ministries asking nothing in return.

Kevin's walk with the Lord was evident everyday in his life. It showed through the respect and love of his wife and their three sons. He touched many lives, never judging or criticizing, always accepting, loving, compassionate and helpful. He was a man of few words but when he spoke, he spoke words of wisdom and counsel. He continued his ministry to others until he could speak no more. Kevin longed to see unity and cooperation within the Body of Christ. He was a full-time missionary with Solid Rock Foundation Ministries of Montrose. He especially enjoyed working and discipling youth and seeing fathers take up their Biblical responsibility in their family. He loved the outdoors, camping, hunting and hiking with his family.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 15 years, Tamara; three sons: Nathaniel, age 14, Ethan, age 12, Daniel, age 9; his parents, John and Anita Lewko, all of Montrose; two sisters: Mrs. Bruce (Lyn) Thompson, of Atkins, Minn.; and Mrs. Jerry (Robyn) Spiess, of Moose Lake, Minn.

A memorial service celebrating Kevin's life will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 10 a.m. at the family home, 21205 Uncompahgre Road.

Contributions may be made in Kevin's name to Wells Fargo Bank, Montrose or Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402.

Arrangements are under the direction of Solid Rock Foundation Ministries and Montrose Valley Funeral Home. Casual dress requested.
